EMEC is proud to announce that we have been officially recognised as a Disability Confident Employer as part of the UK Government’s Disability Confident scheme.
This recognition demonstrates our ongoing commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion in the workplace. By achieving Level 2 status, EMEC has taken significant steps to ensure we are not only removing barriers for disabled people but actively providing support so they thrive in their careers.
What is the Disability Confident Scheme?
The Disability Confident scheme was developed by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) to help employers think differently about disability and take positive action to attract, recruit, and retain disabled people and those with long-term health conditions.
Employers who achieve Level 2 status, like EMEC, are recognised as going the extra mile to ensure disabled people have the same opportunities to succeed as anyone else. Becoming a Disability Confident Employer means we:
- Challenge negative attitudes towards disability
- Increase understanding of disability within our organisation
- Remove barriers that may prevent disabled people from accessing work
- Support individuals with disabilities to reach their full potential
What It Means for EMEC
As a certified Disability Confident Employer, EMEC has:
- Completed and passed the official self-assessment process
- Demonstrated that we are taking all the core actions required by the scheme
- Implemented at least one activity to attract and recruit disabled people, and one activity to support and develop them once they join the business
This accreditation lasts for three years, during which we’ll continue to build on the progress we’ve made, review our practices, and look for new ways to foster an inclusive workplace.
Looking Ahead
We’re incredibly proud to have earned the Disability Confident Employer badge (certificate number DCS046726), which we will be displayed across our communications, social media, and business materials. More importantly, this recognition reinforces our mission to create an environment where everyone, regardless of ability, feels valued, supported, and empowered to succeed.
